NeoForge installation succeeds when every file in the profile targets the same Minecraft version and loader family. This workflow keeps loader setup, dependencies and mod files easy to verify.
Use a dedicated profile
A separate launcher profile prevents files for another loader from being mixed into the same mods folder. It also makes rollback simpler.
Confirm the release is a NeoForge build
Do not rename or repurpose a file made for another loader. Use a release that explicitly identifies NeoForge support for your game version.
Add dependencies after the loader works
Launch NeoForge by itself first. Then add dependencies, launch again if necessary, and only then add Simply Swords. This staged approach makes the source of an error easier to identify.
Read the first meaningful error
When launch fails, look near the first dependency, loader or version complaint in the log. The last crash line often describes the shutdown rather than the original cause.
For a server or shared pack, coordinate the version change so every required side uses the intended release set. A mixed server/client environment can create symptoms that look like a mod bug even when the individual files are valid.
Before changing a working NeoForge profile, copy the instance or record the current file versions. Replace one component at a time, launch after the change and inspect the log for new warnings. If the update fails, return to the known-good version set instead of trying several unrelated fixes at once.
Create a rollback point before updates
A Forge, Fabric or NeoForge build should be treated as a different target even when the Minecraft version number matches. Do not mix dependency files across loader families unless the file explicitly supports the environment you are using.
Keep loader families separate
This order matters because it separates loader problems from mod problems. If the base NeoForge profile does not launch, adding more files usually makes diagnosis harder rather than easier.
Start by launching the intended Minecraft profile with NeoForge installed and no new content mod added yet. A successful base launch confirms that the loader itself is working. Only after that should you add required dependencies and Simply Swords Mod to the same instance.
Verify NeoForge before copying content mods
When the profile works, keep the loader installer and working file versions documented somewhere outside the mods folder. That makes a future rebuild or rollback much easier if the instance becomes damaged or if an update needs to be tested separately.
If NeoForge starts but the game stops after adding Simply Swords Mod, compare the error with the dependency list for the exact release. Missing or wrong-loader dependencies often appear early in the log. Correct the specific mismatch first and relaunch before changing memory settings, graphics options or unrelated mods.
Use the log to confirm loader-side problems
